The downtown area of Alicante offers many squares that can fulfil the requirements of all sorts of shots:
Gabriel Miró Square is a few meters away from the Explanada de España. An impressive fountain stands in a peaceful atmosphere and leafy century-old ficus trees. This pedestrian square is a perfect setting to shoot romantic or intimate scenes. The Post Office Building, a recently restored modernist building, also gives on to the square.
Portal de Elche: this small pedestrian square also has leafy centuries-old ficus trees and a round kiosk in the centre, currently offering a cafeteria service. Surrounded by old, stately buildings, the site is ideal to shoot scenes set in the early twentieth century or depicting traditional daily life.
Other interesting locations include Doctor Balmis Square, with a huge urban graffiti on the parking lot façade. A Civil War air-raid shelter is also located here.

The Hermitage of Santa Cruz is located on the hillside of Mount Benacantil, in the singular and picturesque Santa Cruz neighbourhood. It dates back to the last third of the eighteenth century.
It is a small rectangular building. The Santa Cruz procession celebrated on Holy Wednesday leaves from this spot. Costaleros descend carrying four religious processional floats through the steep and narrow streets of Alicante’s old town.
Alicante’s Mediterranean Casino is wonderfully located in the Sports Marina and stands out for its modern facade, versatile facilities and its wide range of gambling games.
Covering a surface area of over 3,500 m2, with views of the Port of Alicante and Santa Barbara Castle, the Casino is one of the best-located buildings of the city. Customers usually single out the poker tables or big slot machine prizes and the Casino is always fairly crowded. Not to forget the colourful restaurant.
The Explanada de España and the Postiguet Beach are very close to the Casino.
