Alicante Central Market
Practical information
The Central Market of Alicante is an eclectic-style building featuring characteristic ornaments of Valencian Modernism from the early 20th century.
The main façade is made of exposed brick and includes a grand staircase. Opposite the rear façade is 25 de Mayo Square, home to flower stalls and a spacious terrace.
INTERIOR: The building consists of a semi-basement and an upper floor where market stalls are located. Both levels host a variety of local businesses, including greengrocers, bakeries, nut shops, fishmongers, butchers, delicatessens, pickle vendors, as well as bars and cafés.
The lighting on the upper floor provides a unique natural glow, which filmmakers can use to create captivating atmospheres. Additionally, the market’s layout and dimensions offer great flexibility for setting up film equipment, allowing for the capture of both static and dynamic scenes.
Its long aisles and bustling atmosphere can add a sense of realism and authenticity to film sequences set in this location. The market is also equipped with electricity, water, and internet access, providing convenience and technical support for film crews. Its central location allows for easy access for equipment and personnel transportation.
In short, the Central Market of Alicante is an architectural gem that offers a unique and versatile setting for film productions, with its impressive design and lively ambiance.
