Alicante City Squares
The downtown area of Alicante offers many squares that can fulfil the requirements of all sorts of shots:
Gabriel Miró Square is a few meters away from the Explanada de España. An impressive fountain stands in a peaceful atmosphere and leafy century-old ficus trees. This pedestrian square is a perfect setting to shoot romantic or intimate scenes. The Post Office Building, a recently restored modernist building, also gives on to the square.
Portal de Elche: this small pedestrian square also has leafy centuries-old ficus trees and a round kiosk in the centre, currently offering a cafeteria service. Surrounded by old, stately buildings, the site is ideal to shoot scenes set in the early twentieth century or depicting traditional daily life.
Other interesting locations include Doctor Balmis Square, with a huge urban graffiti on the parking lot façade. A Civil War air-raid shelter is also located here.
