Los peores años de nuestra vida (1994)

Spanish romantic comedy from 1994 directed by Emilio Martinez-Lazaro and written by David Trueba, which deals with the search for love in youth, the fears and insecurities that accompany this process, being a reference of Spanish cinema in the 90s. The cast is made up of actors and actresses of the stature of Ariadna Gil, Gabino Diego, Jorge Sanz, Agustin Gonzalez and Maria Adanez. 

It received 4 nominations for the Goya Awards in 1995: 

  • Best Original Screenplay: David Trueba
  • Best Supporting Actor: Agustin Gonzalez
  • Best Leading Actor: Gabino Diego
  • Best Sound, winning the Goya Award in this category. 

Locations: 
Filming took place between Madrid and Alicante.

Trileros (2004)

Trileros is a Spanish comedy directed by Antonio del Real and starring Juanjo Puigcorbe, Juan Echanove, Antonio Resines, Jose Sancho and model Esther Cañadas. The film follows the misadventures of two friends, Julio and Augusto, who, fed up with their bad luck and the life they lead, decide to radically change their situation by accepting an illegal job in exchange for a large sum of money.

The Garden of Eden (2008)

The Garden of Eden is a British film based on the posthumous novel by Ernest Hemingway, directed by John Irvin, which chronicles the adventures and vicissitudes of a young American writer and his wife during their honeymoon in Europe in the early decades of the 20th century.

Locations: 
In addition to being shot in the Ciudad de la Luz film studios and several towns in the province of Alicante, some of the scenes of this film took place in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the Plaza de la Santísima Faz in Alicante.

Mentiras y gordas (2009)

Spanish film shot in the Ciudad de la Luz film studios, which immerses us in the universe of a group of young people during a hot summer in Alicante full of parties, romances and adventures, with a cast of very well-known young actors such as Mario Casas, Hugo Silva and Ana de Armas.

The historic center, the port and the old Qu’s discotheque in Alicante.

The Counselor (2013)

The Counselor is a psychological thriller directed by renowned British director Ridley Scott, based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy, which plunges us into the dark and dangerous world of drug trafficking, where wrong decisions can have fatal consequences.

Locations:
Entrance hall of the historic Town Hall building and Plaza del Ayuntamiento. In addition, several scenes were filmed with car chases in an area of warehouses located behind the Ocaña road and a lingerie shop in Calle Angel Lozano.

Ama (2021)

Ama is a Spanish drama directed by Julia de Paz, which tells the story of Pepa and her daughter Leila, who face precariousness and loneliness after being evicted from their home. The film explores the complex mother-daughter relationship and the challenges of motherhood in difficult circumstances.
Film nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Goya Awards 2022.

Streets of the Barrio Santa Cruz and Barrio San Roque in Alicante’s old town.
